Belkiz is the delightful brain child of Betul Madakbas. An entrepreneurial designer based in Melbourne.
Of Turkish and Dutch parentage Betul was educated in marketing and practised in graphic design in her home of Amsterdam. Betul was surrounded by entrepreneurs and innovative thinkers all her formative years. Her father is an inventor in the imaging field/photonics and her mother, a highly creative business person, both worked together and inspiring Betul to pursue a career in design and innovation.
Betul immigrated to Australia in 1999 and immediately established a graphic design consultancy Base-Line in Melbourne. Undeterred by her lack of language skills and commercial contacts she built up a studio from scratch to a successful business winning design awards and attracting clients from major corporates such as BP, Melbourne Airport, to small start ups.
Belkiz is an exciting progression for Betul drawing on her understanding of commercial design along with her love of ideas. She leads an active life and travels frequently around Australia drawing inspiration from the landscape and different people and places. She lives in both Melbourne and Tasmania. Belkiz of course lives in her heart.
